Khaira appeared in one game for Minnesota during his short call-up and has been reassigned to Iowa (AHL) on Monday. The 29-year-old is in his ninth NHL season and had one SOG during 8:05 TOI in his only appearance this year. He heads back to Iowa, where he had no goals, four assists and a +3 plus/minus in four games prior to his call-up to Minnesota.

Khaira has been a healthy scratch for the Blackhawks last two games but will find himself back in the lineup Tuesday. The left-winger has one goal and no assists through his seven games this season while playing 12:08 TOI per night.

Khaira underwent surgery on his lower back on Tuesday and is expected to miss 10-to-12 weeks.

The surgery effectively ends Khaira's season in Chicago, unless they plan on suiting him up for the final few games of the season. Khaira had been out since January 17th and they elected to go with surgery, likely ending his season with three goals and no assists in 27 games.
