Mike Green News
#Caps Green is in full pads and is on the ice before practice as he continues to be on track

Good news for Green as he continues to progress. Limited to only 10 games this season, the Caps are hoping to squeeze at least another month out of their top offensive defenseman.

#Caps spokesman says Green did skate this morning, hadn't skated in three previous days

Green getting back on the ice is a good sign. However, he likely remains out until March as he recovers from both a groin injury and sports hernia surgery.

But on Monday, Green did not skate. It was the third straight day he was not on the ice, a Caps spokesman said. It's unclear whether this represents a setback.

Not great news for the oft-injured Green. His absence from the ice likely represents a setback.

#Caps defenseman Mike Green will undergo abdominal surgery and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Green was placed on LTIR recently and was not eligible to play until February. Sounds like the offensive defender will miss the majority of the regular season.

According to the collective bargaining agreement, Green cannot be taken off the long-term list until he misses 10 games or 24 days, which means the earliest he could possibly be back in the mix for the Capitals is Feb. 1.

Hard to imagine Green's value taking any bigger of a hit. The Caps still play 33 games from February 1st on so Green, if healthy, could play at most a half of the season.

"It got a little tight, so we're being careful with him," Hunter said. "We took him and pulled him out."

Green once again is injured but Hunter claims it is for precautionary reasons this time. Regardless, we would be shocked if he doesn't miss any playing time.

Mike Green says he's "pretty close" to returning to #Caps lineup. Could it be Tues against Calgary? Too early to tell: http://wapo.st/vlB7u1

We should know Green's status prior to tomorrow's game. The All-Star defenseman has been skating on the top PP unit and is expected to get back into the lineup this week.

Doesn't sound like Mike Green will play tomorrow for #Caps vs. #nyr despite PP duty in practice.

Green was spotted on the ice this morning which is a step in the right direction. The All-Star has been limited to eight games and has not played a single game in December.

Mike Green not on trip, stayed back to do on and off-ice training with Mark Nemish, #Caps spokesman said.

Green not travelling with the team is telling. However, the Caps only play one road game so it doesn't rule him out for the remainder of the week.

Mike Green just came off ice after skating for 40 mins. Did some drills with team after some solo skating. #Caps

Green has now skated for four consecutive days which is another step in the right direction. He last played on November 11th and has only suited up for eight of the team's 32 games.

Mike Green has indeed joined the #caps here in Denver after seeing a specialist for his strained right groin.

While Green is travelling with the team, he has yet to hit the ice for today's morning skate. The All-Star defender remains out indefinitely.

“It’s longer than we expected, unfortunately, but it was a significant injury,” McPhee said in a one-on-one interview with The Post. “It’s a groin injury and those things, they’re hard to heal quickly and know when – you just don’t know when you’re going to be ready.”

Certainly good news for the Caps and Green owners as he continues to progress. He could possibly get back into the lineup during this calendar year.
