Flyers GM Ron Hextall said that Mason is doing better and that he will hopefully start the Flyers first game back on Tuesday vs. the Coyotes. The Flyers have gone 3-3-0 with Mason out of the lineup.
Mason’s injury is reportedly not related to his previous lower-body injury, but it will keep out of at least the next six games. The Flyers will roll with Ray Emery and Rob Zepp as their goaltending tandem while Mason is sidelined.
Mason left Saturday’s game with a knee injury and did not return. Mason underwent an MRI, that did not reveal any significant damage and Mason is expected to miss a week. Ray Emery will become the starter and Rob Zepp will be recalled from the Phantoms.
Mason, who has been battling a lower-body injury lately, left this afternoon’s game less than eight minutes in. He made a right pad save and then went down in obvious pain as he tried to push-off. Mason was replaced by Ray Emery and he will likely miss some time.
Mason stopped 26 of 28 shots in the Flyers OT win over Capitals on Thursday. He has won each of his last two starts while stopping 67 of 70 shots (.957 SV%). Mason has gone 2-1-0 with a 1.67 GAA and .943 SV% in afternoon starts this season.
Mason stopped 41 of 42 shots and four of five shootout attempts in the Flyers 2-1 shootout win over the Senators on Tuesday. The win snapped a five-game losing streak and was his first since December 13th. Tonight he will start with the Flyers hosting the Capitals—he is 6-4-2 at Wells Fargo Center.
Despite leaving practice early on Wednesday, it looks like Mason will start vs. the Capitals. He is coming off of a 41-save performance in the Flyers 2-1 shootout win over the Senators on Tuesday. The win snapped a five-game losing streak and was his first since December 13th. Looks like he will start at home vs. Washington—he is 6-4-2 with a 2.22 GAA and .927 SV% at Walls Fargo Center.
Mason left practice on Wednesday and underwent an MRI on Wednesday night, but the team announced that he will take part in the morning skate tomorrow. The MRI must not have revealed anything major which is great news for Mason owners and the Flyers.
Mason was injured when he made a point-blank save on Clarke MacArthur on Tuesday night. Mason finished the game and stopped four of five shootout attempts in the Flyers win. He left practice this morning after about 15 minutes and will undergo an MRI later today. Look for Ray Emery to start on Thursday.
Mason took the ice for practice this morning, but left quickly with what the Flyers called “soreness.” Philadelphia will take on the Capitals tomorrow, so if Mason is unable to go, look for Ray Emery to start.
Mason stopped six of eight shots after replacing Ray Emery in the Flyers loss to the Devils on Saturday. It was an ugly night for the Flyers altogether. He has not recorded a win since December 13th and is riding a five-game losing streak with a 2.44 GAA and .904 SV%.
Mason allowed four goals on 33 shots in Wednesday’s loss to the Avalanche. He has lost both of his starts while allowing seven goals on 57 shots (.877 SV%) since returning from a back injury.He finished December at 2-3-4 with a 2.29 GAA and .919 SV%. Tonight he faces the Hurricanes, who are tied for last in the league.
Mason allowed three goals on 24 shots in the Flyers loss to the Coyotes on Monday. It was a rough loss for Mason, who has now dropped his last three starts. He will look to close out 2014 with a W—he is 6-11-5 with a 2.52 GAA and .919 SV% so far this year.

Mason’s injury is not considered serious, but he has already been ruled out of Saturday’s game in Nashville. While he will not play on Saturday, the Flyers are hopeful that he will skate that day and best case scenario is that he will be back on Monday in Arizona.
The Flyers will not travel to Toronto or Winnipeg and will be reevaluated on Monday. The speculation is that Mason’s upper-body injury is related to his back. Expect Ray Emery to start at least Saturday in Toronto.
Mason was injured at the end of practice and could not leave the ice under his own power. Mason went down while moving with no one around him. We await an update from the team, but if he is out for any period of time, Ray Emery immediately becomes the starter in Philly.

He will take on a Panthers team who have alternated wins and losses in their last nine contests—they have averaged 2.44 G/PG over that span.
Mason stopped 25 of 26 shots in the Flyers 5-1 blowout of the Hurricanes on Saturday. Mason is off to a 2-1-2 start to December—he has posted a 2.17 GAA and .926 SV% over that span. Tonight he draws a tough matchup with the Lightning in town, but he catches a break with Ben Bishop sidelined with a lower-body injury.
