Originally the Flyers were going to use Mason as Rob Zepp’s backup for the next two games, but decided it was smarter to recall Anthony Stolarz from Lehigh Valley. So look for Zepp to start tomorrow and Thursday with Mason potentially going on Saturday vs. the Rangers. Monitor his status as the week progresses.

Mason missed the last five games with a knee injury, but it sounds like he could return over the weekend if all goes well. Ray Emery has filled in well for Mason, but his return would be huge for a Flyers team who are battling for a playoff spot.

Mason was on the ice before Flyers practice with goalie coach Jeff Reese this morning. Mason is one and half weeks into a 2-3 week timetable, so this is just about the time you would expect him to return to the ice. Expect him to skate alone for a few days before returning to full practice.

Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced that Mason will be out for approximately 2-3 weeks with a lower-body injury. There is no word on the nature of the injury, but it will keep him out until late February or early March. The Flyers will now turn to Ray Emery.

Mason was injured in Sunday’s win over the Capitals. It sounds like he will miss at least a couple of weeks, but expect a full update after the procedure is finished.

Mason allowed two goals on 30 shots in the Flyers shootout loss to the Islanders on Thursday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Mason, who will meet the Caps for the second time this afternoon. He made 26 saves in a 3-2 OT win back on January 8th.

Mason stopped all 30 shots he faced in the Flyers shutout 1-0 win over the Maple Leafs. Since returning from a lower-body injury, he has won three straight while posting a 1.01 GAA and .967 SV%. In his first start against the Islanders this season, Mason stopped all 46 shots he faced in a 1-0 shootout loss.

Mason allowed two goals on 38 shots in the Flyers win over the Jets on Thursday. Since returning from a lower-body injury, Mason has stopped 58 of 61 (.951 SV%) shots and earned two straight victories. Mason starts against Maple Leafs team who are 1-10-1 while being outscored 37-16 in January.

Mason allowed one goal on 23 shots after replacing Ray Emery in the Flyers come-from-behind win over the Coyotes on Tuesday. It was Mason’s first game back after missing six games with a lower-body injury. Mason enters play tonight at 9-12-6 with a 2.41 GAA and .921 SV%.

Mason is making great progress and will be back in the lineup tonight, but will serve as the back-up to Ray Emery. Look for him to get the call on Thursday vs. the Jets.

There was a chance that Mason could be available for tonight’s game, but he is splitting time with Rob Zepp at one end, while Ray Emery is in the starter’s crease, so it looks like Mason will miss his seventh straight game.

Mason practiced early Monday morning and has been quietly practicing since before the All-Star break. Mason, who has a right knee injury, has been practicing on his own, but has not taken shots or been involved in the normal routine he has the day before a game. Flyers GM Ron Hextall said it was not “100 percent” ruled out that Mason would be in the lineup.
