Mason missed Monday’s game due to personal reasons, but Michal Neuvirth excelled in his place, posting a 31-save shutout. Mason returned to practice this morning but Neuvirth will stat tonight and Mason may not even dress as his backup.
Mason was not on the ice for the Flyers morning skate and he will miss Monday’s contest vs. the Panthers. Mason’s season has got off on a terrible note but with him out, Michal Neuvirth will start vs. Florida and Jason LaBarbera is expected to be recalled.
Mason allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Flyers overtime loss to the Lightning in the season opener. Mason continues to play very well for the Flyers and will look to register his first win of the season tonight in Florida. Mason was 1-1-1 with a 1.32 GAA and .959 SV% in three starts against the Panthers last season.
Mason is coming off of one of the best seasons of his career, in which he finished third in the NHL in SV% (.928) and seventh in GAA (2.25). He will get a tough test in his first start of the season when he takes on the Tampa Bay Lightning—Mason was 1-0-2 with a 2.58 GAA and .925 SV% in three preseason games.
Mason allowed four goals on 40 shots in the Flyers 5-4 win over the Islanders on Tuesday. Mason is finishing a great season on a high. He has won three in a row and four of his last five while posting a 1.78 GAA and .953 SV%. Despite the Flyers missing the playoffs, Mason can not be blamed. He comes into this afternoon at 18-17-11 with a 2.23 GAA and .928 SV%.
Mason made 46 saves on 47 shots in the Flyers win over the Penguins on Sunday. It was an outstanding performance from Mason, who has had a fantastic year despite the Flyers missing the playoffs. Mason is third in the NHL in SV% (.929) and fourth in GAA (2.19) but that has only translated into a 29th best 17 wins this season.
Mason allowed one goal on 25 shots in the Flyers win over the Penguins on Wednesday. Ray Emery started last night, but it will be Mason this afternoon, against Pittsburgh again. Mason has gone 14-5-5 with a 1.92 GAA and .939 SV% at home this season.
Mason stopped 42 of 44 shots in the Flyers loss to the Sharks on Saturday. He has played well in his last two games, stopping 76 of the last 79 (.962 SV%) shots that he has faced. Tonight he gets the start in Pittsburgh—Mason has struggled on the road, having going 1-12-6 with a 2.64 GAA and .912 SV% in 20 starts away from Philadelphia.

Mason allowed five goals on 21 shots in the Flyers 5-2 loss in New Jersey on Sunday. It was a brutal outing for Mason, who has struggled on the tail-end of back-to-backs this season. Tonight he starts against Dallas having won two of his last five while posting a 2.67 GAA and .905 SV%.
Mason allowed three goals on 37 shots in the Flyers 3-2 OT loss to the Bruins yesterday. It was a late collapse, but not Mason’s fault at all, he was great yet again. He will be in a little easier this afternoon in New Jersey. He has gone 0-1-1 with a 4.08 GAA and .833 SV% on no rest.
