Varone was in the lineup for the last two games, but will be replaced by Justin Bailey on Tuesday.
Varone continues to put up impressive numbers at the AHL level, collecting 11 goals and 17 assists (28 points) in 22 games this season. This is one year after leading the Phantoms with 70 points (23G / 47A) in 74 games. Varone could get a chance to make his Flyers debut on their five-game road-trip.
There are reports that Mark Stone suffered an injury in last night’s game against the Coyotes and that is why Varone has been recalled. The 26-year-old forward has not made an impact in six games with the Senators this season, but has 42 points (13G / 29A) in 51 games to lead Binghamton this season.
Varone failed to record a point while averaging 8:44 TOI in two games during his call-up. The Senators added Alex Burrows via trade on Monday, so expect him to take Varone’s spot in the lineup Thursday.
The Senators are really banged up up front and took a tough loss Friday in Carolina. Varone leads Binghamton in points with 38 (13G / 25A) in 48 games this season. He hasn’t registered a point in four games with Ottawa this year.
Curtis Lazar was injured in Monday’s loss and will not travel out west with the team, so Varone has been recalled and will go with the team. Varone has no points in three games with Ottawa this season, but has picked up five goals and eight assists (13 points) in 18 games with Binghamton.
Varone, 25, did not record a point in three games and has been sent to Binghamton, where he had 23 points (6G / 17A) in 21 games a season ago. With Varone back in the AHL, Matt Puempel will likely get into the lineup or Thomas Chabot will play as a seventh defenseman.
Varone has 19 points (5G / 14A) in 18 games with Binghamton since being acquired from Buffalo. Tonight he will make his Ottawa debut vs. the Bruins. He has nine points (5G / 4A) in 42 career NHL games.
Varone, 25, was a fifth round pick (147th overall) in 2009. He has 32 points (13G / 19A) in 44 games with the Americans (AHL) this season and two points (1G / 1A) in five games with the Sabres.
Varone, 24, has been recalled because the Sabres are without Zemgus Girgensons and Tyler Ennis. He has registered two goals in seven games with the Sabres this season. While in Rochester, he has 43 points (14G / 29A) in 52 games.
