Stalock stopped the two shots he faced after replacing Martin Jones in Tuesday’s loss to the Blue Jackets. Stalock has lost each of his first two starts while allowing a combined nine goals on 57 shots (.842 SV%). The Sharks, who got off to a hot start, are now struggling and Stalock is a risky start against a Panthers team who has some offence to offer.
Stalock gave up five goals on 33 shots in the Sharks loss to the Islanders on October 17th. Stalock struggled in his first start of the season, but he will start his second tonight vs. the Stars. It is a tough matchup for the Sharks backup. The Stars are currently fourth in the NHL in scoring.
Strome was a late scratch from Thursday’s game because of an illness and his absence from practice this morning puts his status for Saturday in doubt. The Islanders play at 1 p.m, so expect an update on his status a few hours before game-time.
Strome was a late scratch for Thursday's game and is listed as day-to-day with an illness heading into the weekend. The Islanders have a back-to-back starting on Saturday, so monitor Strome's status leading up to tomorrow's contest with the Devils.
Fabbri missed the last six games with a concussion, but will be back on Tuesday vs. the Lightning. He had one goal in his first two games this season and with Jaden Schwartz out for 12 weeks, Fabbri has a chance to carve out a big role if he plays well. He will start back on the third line with Scott Gomez and Troy Brouwer.
Strome was a a healthy scratch on Saturday, but will get back into the lineup tonight vs. Calgary. He has one goal and four assists in seven games this season. He will replace Steve Bernier in the lineup and should be back on a line with John Tavares.
Despite practicing on Friday, Fabbri is not ready to go on Saturday. With Fabbri out and Jaden Schwartz suffering an injury in practice the Blues will recall Ty Rattie from the AHL and he will play on Saturday. Monitor Fabbri’s status heading into next week.
Fabbri returned to practice this afternoon as he nears a return from a concussion that he suffered on October 10th. He has missed the last five games, but monitor his status before Saturday’s game.
Stalock will make his season debut after Martin Jones won his first four starts of the season. Stalock went 8-9-2 with a 2.62 GAA and .902 SV% as Antti Niemi’s backup last season. He will face the 2-1-1 Islanders who have scored 11 goals in their first four games.
Killorn sat out of Thursday’s game vs. Dallas because of an upper-body injury. There is no word as to who will come out of the lineup to make room for Killorn.
Martin Jones has had an incredible start to the season, but he will get a night off during the Sharks’ back-to-back on Friday and Saturday. Stalock will start either Friday vs. New Jersey or Saturday vs. the Islanders, but head coach Pete DeBoer has not decided which one yet. I would expect it to be Friday vs. the lesser opponent in the Devils.
Fabbri was injured in the first period of Saturday’s 3-2 loss to the Wild. Blues coach Ken Hitchcock was not impressed with the hit calling it a “shot to the head.” The Blues are considering him day-to-day, but don’t plan on updating his status until he is cleared to return to practice. With Fabbri out, either Scottie Upshall or Scott Gomez are expected to play on Tuesday.
Gudas missed 51 games a season ago after undergoing knee surgery and now 225 days after being acquired from Tampa Bay, Gudas will finally make his Flyers debut. Gudas is a rugged defenseman, who Flyers fans should love as long as he can stay in the lineup. He isn’t really known for his offence having registered just 32 points (7G / 25A) in 126 games in his career.
Fabbri left Saturday’s game in the first period after taking an elbow to the head. He played just 3:27 TOI of game two in his nine game NHL tryout. Consider him day-to-day.
Silfverberg was cleared for practice on Wednesday so it wasn’t a surprise to see him back at practice on Thursday, but it is a positive sign that he should be available for the Ducks season opener on Friday.
Gudas had been skating among the Flyers’ top six defensemen throughout the week, but he will be scratched in the opener and Luke Schenn will play.
Silfverberg did not practice on Tuesday, but did skate on his own. He has been cleared for practice and should be able to get into the season opener since the Ducks don’t play until Saturday. He is currently skating on a line with Ryan Kesler and Andrew Cogliano.
Killorn left a couple of shifts into the third period of Saturday’s preseason finale. His injury is not believed to be serious, but his day-to-day tag puts his status for the season opener in question.
