Oettinger is in the starter's crease at Dallas' morning skate.

The Stars have been bleeding goals lately, allowing 11 in their last four periods. Oettinger allowed five on 33 shots in his previous outing (.848 SV%) but was playing well before that blip, allowing two or fewer in five straight (5-0-0), posting a .934 SV%. The Stars enter the action on Friday as -138 home favorites against division rivals, the Colorado Avalanche, coming off a 2-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

Petrovic has only played one regular season NHL game in the last five years but had an impact in seven playoff games with Dallas this past postseason. His call-up gives Dallas another option on the blueline with Nils Lundkvist (lower body) sidelined.

Roope Hintz is battling an undisclosed ailment and will not play on Wednesday against the Chicago Blackhawks, allowing Blackwell to re-enter the lineup for the first time since November 14th. The 31-year-old Blackwell played the first 15 games of the season, scoring four points (1G / 3A) from the fourth line, but has been a healthy scratch for five games since.

Hintz (undisclosed) tweaked something and will miss Wednesday's game in Chicago.

Hintz has finally started to produce with some consistency this season but will not play on Wednesday due to an undisclosed injury. The 28-year-old Hintz, nearly a point-per-game player over the past three seasons, only has 13 points (8G / 5A) in 20 games this season, but has three in his last three (2G / 1A). Colin Blackhwell will draw into the Stars' lineup in the interim.

DeSmith will start in Chicago on Wednesday.

Jake Oettinger had a forgetful night in the Stars' previous game, a 6-4 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, and the club will revert to DeSmith between the pipes on Wednesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks. DeSmith allowed four goals on 27 shots (.852 SV%) in his most recent outing, a 4-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks, but has been serviceable in limited action for the Stars this season, posting a 2.22 GAA and .914 SV% in six appearances (2-3-0). The Stars enter Wednesday's contest as sizeable -229 road favorites against a Blackhawks club they have outscored 7-3 in two games this season (2-0-0).

For the third straight game, the Stars will turn to the red-hot Oettinger between the pipes. The 25-year-old Oettinger is riding a five-game winning streak, allowing two or fewer goals in each while posting an excellent .934 SV%. The Stars have outscored their opposition 9-4 in their last two games (2-0-0) and enter Monday's contest as slight +110 road underdogs against a Carolina Hurricanes club that will welcome Seth Jarvis (upper body) back into their lineup.

Lundkvist played only 6:38 time-on-ice in the Stars' most recent game before exiting the contest with a lower-body injury. The 24-year-old Lundkvist has one point (0G / 1A) in 15 games this season while averaging 13:58 time-on-ice.

Jake Oettinger was in the starter's crease at the morning skate, but the team announced that DeSmith would be between the pipes on Monday night against the Anaheim Ducks. The 33-year-old DeSmith has been outstanding in limited action for the Stars this season, posting a 1.79 GAA and .929 SV% in five games (2-2-0). The Stars enter the action as ginormous -436 home favorites against a Ducks club with the worst offense in the league, averaging only 2.4 goals per game.
