Pickard is expected to start on Thursday in Nashville.

The Oilers lost Connor McDavid early in Monday's 6-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets and will likely switch to Pickard between the pipes for the second time in the last three games. The 32-year-old Pickard has been serviceable in limited action this season but has been notably impressive in his last two outings (2-0-0), saving 49 of 53 shots (.925 SV%). The Oilers will be without Connor McDavid for the next two to three weeks and will face off against a Nashville Predators team with points in each of their last four games (3-0-1).

Ingram will start on Wednesday vs. Calgary.

Utah HC will attempt to snap a four-game losing skid on Wednesday and turn to Ingram between the pipes. Ingram has lost four of his last five outings (1-2-2), allowing three or more goals four times, and posting an ugly .865 SV%. After a 3-0-0 start to the season, Utah has only won once in their last seven contests (1-4-2). They enter the action on Wednesday as -116 home favorites against a Calgary Flames club that has been outscored 14-5 during a three-game losing streak (0-3-0).

McDavid sustained an ankle injury and is expected to return in two to three weeks.

McDavid only played one shift on Monday night, exiting the game after only 37 seconds of ice time after awkwardly colliding into the boards. The superstar forward returned to Edmonton to be evaluated and has announced Wednesday that he is expected to return to action in two to three weeks with an ankle injury. McDavid, averaging an absurd 1.7 points per game over the previous four seasons, had begun the 2024-25 campaign off to a slow start by his elite standards, with 10 points (3G / 7A) in 10 games.

Philp has been recalled from Bakersfield (AHL).

With Connor McDavid's status uncertain after suffering a lower-body injury on Monday, the Oilers have recalled Drake Caggiula and Noah Philp from the Bakersfield Condors (AHL). The 26-year-old Philp has spent the last three seasons in Bakersfield awaiting his NHL debut. Philp has three points (2G / 1A) in six games with Bakersfield this season.

McDavid (lower-body) will not return to Monday's game in Columbus.

McDavid played just 37 seconds before exiting the game and now officially will not return. He appeared to injure himself after an awkward fall along the boards and skated off shortly afterwards. We should expect to receive an update on the status of his injury after Monday night's game.

Ingram will start on Monday vs. San Jose.

Utah HC will attempt to snap a season-worst three-game losing skid (0-3-0) on Monday with Ingram between the pipes. Ingram has allowed four or more goals in four of his last six games (3-2-1), posting an awful .851 SV%, but continues to hold control of the starter's crease over Karel Vejmelka in Utah. Skinner will start on Monday in Columbus.

On the tail end of a back-to-back set, Skinner will return to the crease for the Oilers on Monday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. After allowing five goals on 13 shots (.615 SV%) in a 6-0 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in their first game of the season, Skinner has allowed three or fewer goals in each of his last five outings, including a 27-save shutout on Friday in a 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Skinner will start against the Penguins on Friday.

Skinner took the loss his last time out, allowing three goals on 33 shots in a 3-2 overtime defeat to the Hurricanes. The 26-year-old netminder has struggled to open the season, posting a 1-3-1 record and an .866 SV% through five appearances. Luckily for Skinner, he's got a great opportunity to get back in the win column on Friday night. He draws a great matchup as the Oilers enter action as sizable favourites at -230.
