Darcy Kuemper was the first goaltender off the ice for the Capitals Wednesday.

Kuemper allowed four goals on 29 shots (.862 SV%) as he lost to his old team the Colorado Avalanche in his last start. It has not been an easy first season in Washington for Kuemper whose posted a 5-9-1 record with a 2.83 GAA and .907 SV%. He faces off against the Philadelphia Flyers who ranks 30th in the NHL in goals (2.53) and 29th in shots on goal (29.0).

Rittich will start Monday vs. the Hurricanes.

Riittich last started on Nov.13th where he won against Seattle after stopping 19 of 21 shots (.905 SV%). The Jets' backup goaltender has struggled despite his 2-1-0 record this season, posting a .890 SV% and 2.73 GAA. He takes on the Carolina Hurricanes' who rank fourth in the NHL in shots per game (35.7) but 24th in goals per game (2.83).

Riittich last started on Nov.13th where he won against Seattle after stopping 19 of 21 shots (.905 SV%). Jack Studnicka has been placed on the injured reserve due to a lower-body injury.

Studnicka will head to the injured reserve after an eye-opening seven-game spell with Vancouver after being traded a few weeks ago. Through seven games the 23-year-old has a goal and two points along with 11 SOG while only averaging 10:30 ATOI in a bottom-six role. He has a lower-body injury.

Kuemper will start Friday vs. the Lightning.

Kuemper finds himself in the midst of a four-game losing streak after stopping 24 of 27 shots (.889 SV%) in a 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh his last time out. Although he holds a 4-6-1 record, he has been solid between the pipes for the injured Capitals as proven by his .916 SV% and 2.47 GAA. He faces the Tampa Bay Lightning who have won two of their last three contests but grade out fairly evenly offensively across the league as they are 13th in GF/GP (3.23) and 17th in SOG/GP (31.2).

Kuemper was the first goalie off of the ice at the Capitals morning skate.

Kuemper stopped 23 of 26 shots (.885 SV%) to pick up his second straight loss his last time out vs. Arizona. The 32-year-old has been solid since signing a big contract in the offseason, recording a .919 SV% and 2.42 GAA to go along with a 4-5-1 record. He faces a Pittsburgh Penguins team that is in the middle of a downfall at the moment, losing seven straight while only scoring more than three times once during the span.

Kuemper will start Thursday in Detroit.

Kuemper stopped 33 of 35 shots (.943 SV%) but was unfortunately on the losing side of a 3-2 overtime loss to Carolina his last time out. Since signing in the off-season from Colorado, Kuemper has been incredibly solid, posting a 4-3-0 record to go along with his .922 SV% and 2.39 GAA. He faces the Detroit Red Wings Thursday who have been stumbling as of late, dropping three of their last four games and only scoring more than two goals once during that time.
