Nashville Predators News
Saros will start against the Oilers on Thursday.

The Predators, one of only two teams without a point early in the 2024-25 season (0-3-0), will turn to Saros on Thursday when they attempt to snap their losing skid. The 29-year-old Saros has been unspectacular to start the season, posting an ugly 4.19 GAA and .855 SV% in two games (0-2-0). That said, slow starts are nothing new for Saros, who had a .892 SV% in his first 14 games last season (5-9-0) before steadying to a .913 SV% in his next 47 (29-14-4). The Predators enter action on Thursday as +110 home underdogs against an Edmonton Oilers club that won their first game of the season on Tuesday.

Saros will start against the Kraken on Tuesday.

The winless Predators (0-2-0) will turn to Saros between the pipes for the second time this season. Saros was serviceable in his season opener on Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings, saving 19 of 21 shots (.905 SV%), but received zero goal support in the 3-0 loss. Saros signed an eight-year extension worth $61.92 million ($7.74M AAV) in the offseason and should see a heavy workload in net for the Predators this season. Nashville enters action on Tuesday as a -192 home favorite against the Seattle Kraken.

Vrana is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday vs. Vegas.

Sonny Milano will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday, allowing Vrana to make his season debut. Vrana is in his second stint with the Washington Capitals, the team that drafted him 13th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Now 28 years old, Vrana has struggled to establish himself as an everyday NHLer, despite scoring a respectable 41 points (26G / 15A) in his past 72 games across the last three seasons.

Saros (lower-body) will not dress for Thursday's season opener against the Stars.

Saros has not participated in the last two practices for the Predators due to a lower-body injury, resulting in the club calling up Matt Murray from the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL). Despite the call-up, Saros' injury does not appear to be overly concerning, and he was questionable for the season opener on Thursday against the Dallas Stars up until puck drop. Saros finished fifth in Vezina-trophy voting last season with a 2.86 GAA and 906 SV% in 64 appearances (35-24-5).

Friedman cleared waivers and has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL).

Friedman was apart of Vancouver's final roster cuts on Tuesday and has cleared waivers and been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL) on Wednesday. The 28-year-old defenseman joined Vancouver in 2023-24 and had a disappointing first season which saw him collect only one assist, 21 PIMs and 16 SOG in 23 games played.

Nashville has recalled Matthew Murray from Milwaukee (AHL).

Juuse Saros had a maintenance day, resulting in Murray being recalled from the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL). Murray's call-up was most likely precautionary as Saros isn't expected to miss any time. The 26-year-old Murray spent most of the 2023-24 campaign in the AHL, posting a 3.02 GAA and .896 SV% in 31 games (14-15-2) with the Texas Stars.

Stastney (personal) will begin the season on the Injured/Non-Roster list.
