Markstrom is expected to start Friday vs. the Ducks.

Markstrom allowed five goals on 38 shots in the Canucks loss to the Kings on Monday. The loss snapped a brief two-game winning streak for Markstrom, who is expected to make his fourth consecutive start. Markstrom comes in with a 2.61 GAA and .917 SV% on the year and draws a nice matchup vs. the Ducks.

Bernier was not supposed to start on Wednesday, but thankfully for the Maple Leafs he did. He stopped 39 of 41 shots in the Leafs’ 3-2 shootout win over the Penguins. After a dreadful start to the season, Bernier has now won four of his last six starts while posting a 2.90 GAA and .901 SV%, which is skewed by one terrible, six-goal outing. At the start of January, he is a much safer start than he was at the start of December.

Allen will start Thursday vs. the Wild.

Allen allowed three goals on 33 shots in the Blues win over the Predators on Tuesday. He has now won three in a row and five of his last six and will get a chance to close out the 2015 section of the Blues’ schedule tonight vs. Minnesota. Allen has an impressive 2.08 GAA and .927 SV% on the season and comes in at 1-1-0 with a 2.44 GAA and .900 SV% in two starts vs. the Wild this year.

Bernier will start Tuesday vs. the Islanders.

Bernier allowed one goal on 26 shots in the Maple Leafs over the Islanders on Sunday. Bernier has now won three of his last four starts and will take on the Islanders again tonight in the second game of a home-and-home. In that four-game stretch, the Maple Leafs have provided Bernier with 17 goals of support (4.25 G/PG), making him a less risky start than normal.

Markstrom allowed one goal on 33 shots in the Canucks win over the Oilers on Saturday. With Ryan Miller out, Markstrom remains the starter and he comes in having one two in a row while stopping 58 of 60 (.967 SV%) shots. He has played well as of late and will take on a Kings team that has lost four of their last six. In his first start vs. L.A, Markstrom stopped 38 of 40 shots in a 2-1 OT loss.

Allen will start Tuesday vs. Nashville.

Allen allowed two goals on 24 shots in the Blues win over the Stars on Saturday. Brian Elliott got the nod on Sunday, but they will go back to Allen tonight vs. the Predators. Allen has won four of his last five while posting a 1.98 GAA and .934 SV%. He has faced the Preds twice already this season, going 2-0-0 with a 0.50 GAA, .986 SV% and one shutout in the first two.

Bernier allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Maple Leafs loss to the Coyotes on Tuesday. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Bernier, who will start his sixth straight game on Sunday. He will face an Islanders team that is averaging 3.00 goals per game on home ice this season—in contrast, the Maple Leafs are 27th in the NHL in goals on the road.

Bernier allowed four goals on 28 shots in the Maple Leafs 7-4 win over the Avalanche last night. He After not winning for the first two and a half months, Bernier has now won two in a row and will start on back-to-back nights. He has stopped 50 of the last 54 shots (.926 SV%) in those two wins. Tonight he will face a Coyotes team that is 2-1-1 while averaging 3.00 goals per game.

Allen allowed four goals on 31 shots in the Blues loss in Philadelphia on Monday. Despite the loss last night, the Blues will go back to Allen tonight in Boston. That puts Allen at 4-4-0 with 2.37 GAA and .912 SV% in December, easily his worst month of the season, but still solid. Tonight he will take on a Bruins team that has won five of their last six games.

Markstrom allowed two goals on 31 shots in the Canucks loss in Philadelphia last Thursday. Ryan Miller started the last two games, but it will be Markstrom tonight in Tampa Bay. Markstrom is 1-3-3 with a 2.76 GAA and .911 SV% this season and tonight will be his seventh start of the season. He will take on a Lightning team that has won three of four while averaging 3.75 goals per game.

Bernier has had a brutal year, but maybe Saturday will jump start his season. Despite coming off of a win, he draws a tough matchup against a suddenly surging Avalanche team that has won five in a row.

Allen allowed one goal on 28 shots in the Blues win over the Predators on Thursday. Allen has won four of his last five outings while posting a 1.41 GAA and .946 SV%. After Brian Elliott started on Saturday, the Blues will go back to Allen tonight in Philly. Allen comes in at 6-2-1 with a 2.33 GAA and .927 SV% on the road this season.

Until he regains his old form, he can’t be trusted in any format.
