Markstrom will start Monday vs. the Red Wings.

Markstrom allowed two goals on 39 shots in the Canucks’ win over the Penguins on Saturday. Markstrom has won three of his last five starts (3-1-1) while allowing just eight goals on 136 shots (.941 SV%). One of those starts came against the Red Wings, who he’ll face tonight—he stopped 20 of 21 shots in a 4-1 win in Detroit two Sunday’s ago.

The Avalanche have acquired Shane Bowers in a three-way trade with the Senators and Predators.

Bowers, 18, was a first round pick (No.28 overall) this summer and is currently in his first season at Boston University, where he has four goals and two assists in 10 games. Bowers is at least a year or two away from making it to the NHL.

Tonight he will make his 10th start of the season and seventh on home-ice, where he is 1-3-2 with a 2.47 GAA and .915 SV% this season.

Markstrom allowed two goals on 29 shots in the Canucks overtime loss to the Stars on Monday. It was a tough luck loss for Markstrom who has now allowed just seven goals on the last 90 shots that he has faced (.922 SV%). Tonight he faces a Devils team that is third in the NHL in scoring so far (3.80 GF/PG).

With Nilsson struggling vs. the Bruins, Markstrom is expected to face the Sabres tonight. Markstrom has a 2.88 GAA and .901 SV% in five appearances so far this season. Despite a tough start, the Sabres represent a solid matchup.

Tonight he will make his third start of the season and it comes against a 5-2-0 Blues team thats coming off of a big win vs. the Blackhawks last night.

Markstrom allowed three goals on 19 shots in the Canucks’ loss to Winnipeg on Thursday. Markstrom has posted a 2.30 GAA and .927 SV% in his first three starts of the season and tonight he will make his fourth straight tonight vs. the Flames—he was 0-2-0 with a 3.08 GAA and .910 SV% in two starts vs. Calgary last season.

Bernier allowed four goals on 39 shots in Colorado’s loss in New Jersey during his Avalanche debut last Saturday. Tonight he will take on an Anaheim team that he was 21-7-4 with a 2.51 GAA and .915 SV% with a season ago. The Ducks have started the season 2-1-1 with 2.50 goals for and 2.75 goals against per game.

Markstrom allowed two goals on 42 shots in the Canucks’ shootout loss to Ottawa on Tuesday. In his first two starts of the season, Markstrom has gone 1-0-1 while turning aside 73 of 77 shots (.948 SV%). Tonight he will take on a Jets team that has started the season 1-2-0 while averaging 3.33 goals for and 5.00 goals against on the young season.

Markstrom will start Tuesday vs. the Senators.

Markstrom made 33 saves on 35 shots in the Canucks’ season opening win over the Oilers. It was a strong season debut for Markstrom, who will go for a second game in a row tonight vs. Ottawa. Markstrom won’t see a lot of the Senators throughout his career, but he was great in a losing effort vs. Ottawa last year—he stopped 23 of 24 shots in a 1-0 defeat.

With Ryan Miller now in Anaheim, Markstrom is the man in Vancouver and he will start his run as the No.1 tonight vs. the Oilers. Last year he went 10-11-3 with a 2.63 GAA and .910 SV% but will need to be better if the Canucks are to have any success. He is a terrible option tonight vs. Connor McDavid and the rest of the Oilers.
