Markstrom allowed two goals on 27 shots in the Canucks 2-0 loss in Montreal on Thursday. Markstrom hasn’t lost two in a row since November 27/29 but that could happen tonight in Toronto. The Maple Leafs are one of the most dangerous teams in the NHL and the Canucks will be without their star rookie Elias Pettersson.

Allen has played better recently but he will be in tough against the visiting Capitals—Washington is 16-4-0 while averaging 3.80 goals for per game in their last 20 games.

Markstrom allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Canucks win in Calgary last Saturday. Markstrom was outstanding in December, going 8-1-0 with a 1.66 GAA and .943 SV% in nine games. The 28-year-old has been red-hot and is a must-start against a Senators team that ranks 30th in the NHL with 34 points (15-21-4) through 40 games.

Markstrom allowed one goal on 24 shots in the Canucks loss to the Jets last Saturday. It was another great performance from Markstrom but snapped a six-game winning streak for him. Over his last seven games, Markstrom has posted a 1.58 GAA and .944 SV%. In his first start against the Oilers, Markstrom turned aside 20 of 22 shots in a 4-2 win (Dec.16).

Allen made 28 saves on 29 shots in the Blues win in Calgary last Saturday. Allen has been inconsistent lately but has put a solid couple of games together. Tonight he will go head-to-head with his former backup on home-ice, where he is 6-5-2 with a 3.93 GAA and .879 SV% in 15 games this season.

The 28-year-old has struggled against the Flames though, going 1-1-0 with a 5.25 GAA and .860 SV% in two games.
