Schneider allowed five goals on 31 shots in the Devils’ loss in New York on Sunday. Schneider’s road woes continue as he now sits 1-8-3 with a 3.25 GAA and .899 SV% when playing outside of New Jersey. At this point, you need to start him at home and sit him on the road, he is just seems to be a completely different goalie at the Prudential Center.
Varlamov is coming off of his best performance of the season, having stopped 51 shots in a win over the Maple Leafs. Varlamov is dealing with a groin injury and will not dress for Wednesday’s game. In his absence, Calvin Pickard will get the start and Spencer Martin has been recalled to be the backup.
Clutterbuck has picked up two goals and seven assists (nine points) in 25 games this season. The fourth liner has played some games alongside John Tavares, but has spent the majority of the year in the bottom-6. Clutterbuck’s new contract will kick in next year and carry him through the 2021-22 season.
Drouin missed Sunday’s game in Carolina, but will draw back into the lineup tonight. Drouin was expected to breakout after a strong 2016 playoffs, but he has just 10 points (3G / 7A) in 19 games so far.
Schneider allowed two goals on 24 shots in the Devils’ win over the Canucks on Tuesday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Schneider, who will look to put a miserable November behind him. Tonight he starts in Montreal and Schneider has struggled on the road this season. Schneider has gone 1-6-3 with a 2.90 GAA and .905 SV% in arenas not named the Prudential Center.
Drouin missed Sunday’s game in Carolina, but could return to the lineup on Thursday. Drouin skated on the Lightning’s second line with Valtteri Filppula and Brayden Point on Wednesday and is somewhere between probable and questionable for tomorrow’s contest.
Mayfield, 24, has picked up two assists in two games with the Islanders this season, but just three points (1G / 2A) in 14 games with Bridgeport. There’s no word whether or not he will draw into the lineup on Tuesday.
Varlamov gave up two goals on 32 shots in Colorado’s loss to the Stars on Saturday. Varlamov has lost his las three starts while posting a 3.44 GAA and .908 SV%. The Russian netminder has had a tough season and tonight he faces the Predators for the second time—in the first meeting he was shredded for five goals on 36 shots in a 5-1 loss.
Duclair has had a very difficult first quarter of the season, having picked up just one goal and three assists in 23 games. Duclair will sit tonight and allow Brendan Perlini to make his NHL debut. Duclair is also apparently on the Coyotes’ trade block as well.

Keith Kinkaid started on Saturday, so there’s no surprise that Schneider will start vs. his former team tonight in New Jersey. Schneider has struggled on the road, but is an impressive 7-0-1 with a 2.31 GAA and .920 SV% at home.
Varlamov allowed three goals on 37 shots in Colorado’s loss to the Blue Jackets on Thursday. Varlamov has lost three of his last four starts while posting a 3.30 GAA and .908 SV%. Tonight Varlamov will face the Stars for third time this season—he is 1-1-0 with a 4.03 GAA and .840 SV% in the previous two meetings.
Mayfield picked up two assists in 14:22 TOI on Wednesday, but with Dennis Seidenberg returning from IR on Thursday, Mayfield was a healthy scratch and has been sent back to Bridgeport.
Schneider allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Devils’ loss in Winnipeg on Tuesday. Schneider has lost four of his last five starts while posting an un-Schneider-like 3.58 GAA and .874 SV%. He will be in tough tonight against a Blackhawks team that is 11th in the NHL in scoring with 2.75 goals per game.
Varlamov allowed five goals on 40 shots in Colorado’s loss to the Oilers on November 23rd. Calvin Pickard started the last two games, but Varlamov will go tonight vs. the Blue Jackets. The 28-year-old has struggled for the better part of 2016-17, but he stopped 40 of 42 shots in an OT win in his first start vs. the Blue Jackets.
Mayfield has appeared in one game with the Islanders this season, having spent the majority of the year in Bridgeport (AHL), where he has two points (1G / 1A) in 12 games. The 24-year-old will replace an injured Adam Pelech.
Pelech is expected to miss a few games with an upper-body injury that he suffered in Monday’s win over the Flames. With Pelech out, Scott Mayfield will play in his second game of the season.
