Schneider allowed one goal on 20 shots in the Devils 2-1 win over the Senators on Tuesday. Schneider has gone 6-2-1 with a 1.78 GAA and .941 SV% in nine starts in 2015. He has been much better in the last month and draws a beauty matchup tonight. Schneider has gone 2-0-0 with a 1.93 GAA and .935 SV% vs. the Maple Leafs this season.

Varlamov stopped all 23 shots he faced in the Avs 3-0 shutout win over the Predators on Friday. It was Varlamov’s fourth shutout of the season and moved him to 13-10-7 on the season. He went 7-3-2 with a 2.06 GAA and .938 SV% in January. Tonight Varlamov makes his second start vs. the Stars—he made 37 saves in a 4-3 win in their last meeting.

Schneider allowed one goal on 30 shots in the Devils 2-1 shootout win over the Maple Leafs on Wednesday. Schneider has gone 5-1-0 with a 1.88 GAA and .937 SV% in seven starts in January. It has been a strong month, but he has a tough matchup with the Penguins in town—Schneider is 1-2-0 with a 2.64 GAA and .905 SV% vs. Pittsburgh this season.

Varlamov allowed three goals on 30 shots in the Avalanche 3-1 loss to the Blues on Monday. He has lost his last two starts, but has gone 4-2-1 with a 2.01 GAA and .947 SV% in his last seven starts. He draws an average matchup against an improving Bruins who will be in the second game of a back-to-back set.

Varlamov allowed two goals on 31 shots in Colorado’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Lightning on Saturday. Varlamov is 5-2-1 with a 1.98 GAA and .944 SV% in eight starts in January. Tonight he will meet the Blues for the fourth time this season—he is 1-1-1 with a 1.62 GAA and .938 SV% in the first three.

Schneider made 14 saves on 15 shots before leaving Friday’s game in Anaheim. Schneider passed the concussion protocol tests and is ready to start tonight in San Jose. He comes in at 3-1-0 with a 2.09 GAA and .927 SV% in January. He allowed three goals on 31 shots in a loss in his first start vs. the Sharks.

Schneider, who left Friday’s game with an upper-body injury, is “doing fine” and is listed as day-to-day. The Devils are confident that Schneider will be able to backup at the very least on Monday, so no call-up has been made at this time.

Schneider exited after the first period with what Lou Lamoriello called an “upper-body” injury.  Schneider appeared in obvious after taking a Matt Beleskey shot off his right collarbone and/or mask 3:31 into the first period. “He's feeling better right now, but he couldn't go back in,” Lamoriello said. Lamoriello said that Schneider did not require X-rays but would not speculate on if Schneider might miss Monday's game in San Jose or how long he might be out.

He is red-hot right now, but draws a rough matchup in Tampa Bay. The Lightning continue to pace the NHL with a 3.22 goals per game.

He won his first start on the California trip, but it is difficult to expect a repeat performance from the Devils in Anaheim tonight.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Varly, who was given Tuesday off, but will be back between the pipes tonight in Florida. He is 5-3-1 vs. the Eastern Conference with an identical 2.74 GAA and .921 SV% as he has posted vs. the West.

He has gone 2-1-0 with a 1.68 GAA and .940 SV% in the 2015 calendar year. Schneider has struggled, going 8-13-0 on the road this season.
