Brandon Biro (upper body) has been placed on the injured reserve.

Biro was off to a hot start after being called upon to enter the Sabres' lineup last week, scoring two points (2G / 0A) in two games and averaging 13:00 time-on-ice. Biro will miss at least the next week as he has been placed on the injured reserve with an upper-body injury. Matthew Savoie has been called up from Rochester (AHL) in the interim.

Philipp Grubauer will start Saturday vs. Calgary.

Grubauer will start his third straight contest as Seattle takes on Calgary Saturday after winning his last two contests by stopping a combined 66 of 71 shots against (.929 SV%). The 31-year-old has looked much like his normal self for the first time since joining Seattle in 2023-24, as he holds a .909 SV%, 2.83 GAA and 2-4-0 record. He takes on one of the NHL's coldest teams in the Calgary Flames, who have lost six straight games and are 28th in the NHL in goals per game (2.2).

Grubauer will be the starter on Thursday, giving him consecutive starts after serving as backup to Joey Daccord for the three games prior. In his most recent outing, Grubauer was excellent, saving 34 of 37 shots against the Tampa Lightning in a 4-3 overtime victory, his first of the season. The Seattle Kraken are -116 home favourites as they welcome the Nashville Predators, who rank in the bottom third of the league offensively (2.86 GF / GP).

Joey Daccord will start Thursday vs. Carolina.

Daccord was a bit shaky in his previous outing allowing four goals on 27 shots (.852 SV%) but picked up his second straight victory and is the expected starter Thursday vs. Carolina. The 27-year-old is a five year NHL veteran but has never appeared in more than eight games in any single NHL season. He has a 2-0-1 record, 2.85 GAA and .898 SV% in three games played so far in 2023-24. He takes on the struggling Carolina Hurricanes, who have lost three straight contests and rank last in the NHL in goals allowed (4.71).

Daccord will start in Detroit on Tuesday.

Daccord will start for the Kraken on Tuesday, giving him three of the team's last five starts. The 27-year-old has never had more than six starts in a season but seems to be well on his way to surpass that as he has gained the trust of the Kraken coaching staff. In two games (1-0-1), Daccord has a .240 GAA and .918 SV% and could continue to see a fair share of action in the crease if he continues to give his team a chance to win every night. He will have his work cut out for him tonight though, as the Kraken visit the high-scoring Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings are averaging a league-best 5.00 goals scored per game.

The Kraken announced Burakovsky will be out 6-8 weeks with an upper-body injury.

Burakovsky suffered the injury after sustaining a hit from the Rangers Jacob Trouba in the second period of Saturday's game and did not return. It's another tough blow for Burakovsky who entered the campaign with a clean bill of health following a season-ending groin injury last February. Devin Shore is expected to play in place of Burakovsky for Tuesday's game in Detroit.
