Tanev is dealing with an upper-body injury and is not going to play Tuesday and could miss a couple of weeks. There’s no word when Tanev suffered the injury but a call-up from Manitoba (AHL) is likely to be announced before tomorrow’s game.
Schwartz, who has been sidelined since December 9th, has been medically cleared to return and it looks like he’ll be back on Thursday. The Blues have gone 8-10-1 while averaging just 2.16 goals per game since Schwartz was sidelined.

Burakovsky was expected to be in the lineup last night but was a late scratch due to an illness. The Capitals elected to keep him back in Washington for Friday’s game, recalling Travis Boyd from Hershey (AHL) to serve as their reserve forward.

It seems like an odd time to get Grubauer a start with a back-to-back later this week, but the 26-year-old has allowed just five goals on 132 shots (.962 SV%) in his last five appearances. He makes for an interesting spot-start, especially in a week where a lot of goalies are on a bye week.
