McCann (lower-body) will not return to the Panthers lineup on Thursday.

McCann will miss his fifth straight game with a lower-body injury, but has not been ruled out for Saturday’s game vs. the Rangers. McCann had a nice start to the season, collecting two goals and three assists (five points) in seven games, providing the Panthers with plenty of secondary offence.

Murray will start Wednesday in Edmonton.

Murray was yanked after allowing four goals on nine shots in the Penguins’ blowout loss in Winnipeg on Sunday. October was a mixed bag of results for Murray, who finished the month with a 3.05 GAA and .903 SV% in 11 games. He started vs. the Oilers last Tuesday and stopped 29 of 30 shots in the 2-1 OT win.

McCann (lower-body) practiced on Wednesday; has yet to be cleared to play on Thursday.

McCann has missed the last four games, but returned to the ice on Wednesday and could be back in the lineup tomorrow. McCann has not been cleared, but practicing today is a good sign he is close to a return. Monitor his status tomorrow morning.

Schultz (concussion) is skating and could join the Penguins on their road-trip.

The Penguins are in the middle of a five-game road trip and head coach Mike Sullivan said that Schultz is skating back in Pittsburgh and they haven’t ruled out that he could join the team in Western Canada. With Schultz and Matt Hunwick out, Chad Ruhwedel and Zach Trotman will remain in the lineup.

Justin Schultz
Murray will start Thursday vs. the Jets.

Murray allowed just one goal on 30 shots in the Penguins victory vs. the Oilers on Tuesday. Murray has ripped off six straight wins and comes into tonight’s meeting with the Jets at 3-0-1 with a 2.23 GAA and .934 SV% in four starts at PPG Paints Arena this season.

The Penguins have placed Justin Schultz (concussion) on IR.

Schultz left Tuesday’s game vs. Edmonton after being hit by Drake Caggiula and was diagnosed with a concussion postgame. It’s hard to pinpoint how long he will be sidelined with a concussion, but his move to IR means he’ll miss at least tonight’s game. With Schultz on IR, the Penguins have used that roster spot to recall Frank Corrado.

Schultz was diagnosed with a concussion after Tuesday’s game with Edmonton.

Schultz lasted just 5:51 TOI before departing following a Drake Caggiula hit and was diagnosed with a concussion after the game. Concussions are tricky, so don’t expect Schultz to play Thursday vs. Winnipeg.

Murray starts Tuesday vs. the Oilers.

Murray allowed three goals on 31 shots in the Penguins win in Florida last Friday. Murray is now riding a five-game winning streak while posting a 2.40 GAA, .924 SV% and one shutout. The 23-year-old has yet to lose in regulation this season and tonight he takes on Connor McDavid and Oilers, who have stumbled out of the gate.

McCann (lower-body) missed Monday’s practice; doubtful for Tuesday’s game in Montreal.

McCann was forced to leave Saturday’s game in Washington with a lower-body injury and likely will not play on Tuesday. McCann has had a really nice start to 2017-18, posting a two goals and three assists (five points) in seven games. If McCann can’t play, look for Denis Malgin to draw in as the third line centre.

The 24-year-old forward had a nice postseason for the Predators last season, picking up three goals in eight playoff games.
