McDonagh has four years left on his seven-year deal that carries a $6.75M AAV cap-hit. The Lightning recently approached McDonagh to waive his no-trade clause in an effort to clear some cap-space. The Lightning have two key UFA's in Ondrej Palat and Jan Rutta and this trade could help get both of them under contract. In Nashville, McDonagh joins Roman Josi, and Mattias Ekholm as the Predators' new big-3.

The Lightning acquired Paul from the Senators at the trade deadline and made an instant impact in Tampa. He had 23 points (10G / 13A) in 44 regular season and playoff games combined. The Lightning clearly liked what they had in Paul, making a seven-year commitment to him with a $3.15M AAV cap-hit.

Raddysh was an undrafted free agent that was traded to Tampa in 2019, re-signed with them in 2021 and earned another two-year deal after posting 25 points (7G / 18A) in 61 games with Syracuse (AHL). He made his NHL debut in 2022, failing to record a point in four NHL games.

Point was officially listed as a game-time decision for Game 3 but he is not on the ice for warmups and will miss Game 3 vs. the Avalanche. Corey Perry will likely take his place on the Lightning's top power-play unit.

Point suffered an injury in Game 7 vs. the Maple Leafs and is expected to miss Game 1 on Tuesday. However, the Lightning said he should be day-to-day after that, so it looks like he avoided serious injury. The Lightning are expected to do some serious line shuffling with Point out and could go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen.
