Hutton is nearing 500 games played (496) in his ninth NHL season and has signed a two-year, $1.95 million contract ($975,000) with Vegas Friday. The 30-year-old defenceman has almost surpassed his games played from last season at the quarter point of the 2023-24 season and has a goal, seven assists, 45 SOG, 15 PIMs and a +7 plus/minus in 28 games played.

Carter Hart is expected to start Friday in Detroit.

Samuel Ersson has started the last five games for the Flyers, including a 4-2 loss to the Nashville Predators last night, as Hart has been recovering from an illness. All signs point to Hart returning to the crease on Friday against the Detroit Red Wings as the 25-year-old netminder will search for his fourth straight win. Hart has allowed two or fewer goals in each of his last three contests (3-0-0), posting a dazzling .958 SV%. The Flyers are +118 road underdogs on Friday against a Red Wings team that has scored only six goals over their last four games (0-4-0).

Schmid will start against the Oilers on Thursday.

Schmid has started three of the last five games for the Devils and will start again on Thursday after spending the first portion of the season as the clear backup to Vitek Vanecek. Since taking on a larger role in late November, Schmid has a 4-4-0 record while posting a .905 SV%, a vast improvement over the .885 SV% he sported in the six games leading up to it (1-3-1). The Devils have a challenging matchup on Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers but are still -111 home favourites despite losing to them 4-1 less than two weeks ago.

Hart (illness) will return to the lineup to serve as the Flyers' backup on Thursday.

Hart was originally reported to be starting Tuesday but ultimately remained out for a fourth-straight game due to illness. The 25-year-old returned to practice Monday but was deemed not fit to return on Tuesday even though he was a full participant. When he does return between the pipes, he will look to build off his 9-6-1 record, 2.42 GAA and .919 SV%.

Adin Hill (undisclosed) will be out Tuesday and is expected to miss the next three games after not travelling on Vegas' road trip.

Hill returned to action after a multi-week absence on Sunday but exited the game in the first period with an undisclosed injury. It is unclear if his current ailment is related to his previous injury, but he will be out of the lineup for at least the next three games as Logan Thompson will continue to see the lion's share of action between the pipes in the interim.
