Ryan (lower-body) has been placed on waivers for the purpose of reassignment.

Ryan has not played an NHL game since the 2020-21 NHL season and will likely debut in the AHL this season after being placed on waivers for the purpose of being reassigned to the Chicago Wolves (AHL). The 31-year-old Ryan has 24 points (4G / 20A) in 145 career NHL games.

Colorado has claimed Kahkonen off waivers from Winnipeg.

The Avalanche have added some depth to their goaltending position behind Alexandar Georgiev and Justus Annunen by claiming Kahkonen from the Winnipeg Jets. Kahkonen had a poor 2023-24 campaign split between the San Jose Sharks and New Jersey Devils, posting a 3.64 GAA and .898 SV%, but could get an opportunity at the crease in Colorado if Georgiev and Annunen are unable to provide consistent efforts.

Vegas has reclaimed Raphael Lavoie off waivers from Edmonton and assigned him to Henderson (AHL).

Lavoie has had a whirlwind start to his 2024-25 campaign. Lavoie was signed to a one-year, two-way contract extension by the Edmonton Oilers in the offseason, placed on waivers last week, claimed by the Vegas Golden Knights, re-claimed by the Oilers, and ultimately claimed again by the Golden Knights. The 24-year-old was Edmonton's 2019 2nd-round pick (38th overall) and has appeared in seven games with the Oilers since making his debut last season. In 66 games with Bakersfield (AHL) in 2023-24, he had 28 goals, 50 points and 64 PIMs in 66 games played.

Edmonton has re-claimed Raphael Lavoie off waivers from Vegas.

The Blue Jackets claimed Zach Aston-Reese off waivers from the Golden Knights.

Aston-Reese signed a one-year, two-way contract with Vegas in the offseason but has been claimed off waivers by Columbus on Monday. The 29-year-old carries a $775,000 cap hit into the 2024-25 season and should provide much-needed depth for the Blue Jackets offence. In three games with Detroit in 2023-24, he failed to pick up a point while averaging only 5:09 TOI/GP.

The 24-year-old was Edmonton's 2019 2nd-round pick (38th overall) and has appeared in seven games with the Oilers since making his debut last season. Vancouver has re-claimed Jiri Patera off waivers from Boston.

Patera has had a whirlwind offseason, signing with the Canucks at the beginning of July, being claimed on waivers by the Boston Bruins last week, and ultimately rejoining the Canucks after being claimed from waivers on Monday. Patera had a 1-3-1 record, a 3.98 GAA, and a .893 SV% in six games with the Vegas Golden Knights last season.

Anaheim has claimed James Reimer off waivers from Buffalo.

Reimer was signed by the Buffalo Sabres when free agency opened up in July but has since been placed on waivers and claimed by the Anaheim Ducks. Reimer played with the Red Wings last year, going 11-8-2 with a 3.11 GAA and .904 SV% in 25 games (20 starts).

Colorado has claimed John Ludvig off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Ludvig was placed on waivers by Pittsburgh on Friday and has been claimed by the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday. The 24-year-old defenseman spent his entire rookie season in 2023-24 with Pittsburgh and had three goals, five points and 47 PIMs in 33 games played.

The Bruins have claimed Jiri Patera off waivers from the Canucks.

With Jeremy Swayman's contract talks looming, Boston claimed Jiri Patera off of waivers from Vancouver on Wednesday. The 25-year-old goaltender signed a two-year, two-way contract with Vancouver in July but was swiftly claimed by Boston. In six games with Vegas in 2023-24, he had a 1-3-1 record, a 3.98 GAA and a .893 SV%.

Philadelphia has placed Ryan Johansen on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.

Johansen did not play a game after being traded to Philadelphia at last year's trade deadline and it is believed his contract is being terminated by Philadelphia for hip injury-related reasons. The 32-year-old was set to have a cap hit of $4 million for the 2024-25 season and will have up to 60 days to appeal the Flyers decision if he desires. In 63 games with Colorado in 2023-24 the 32-year-old had 13 goals, 23 points, 34 PIMs and 78 SOG.

Philadelphia will buy out the remainder of Cam Atkinson’s contract.

Atkinson was about to enter the seventh year of of seven-year, $41.25 million ($5,875,000 AAV) but has been bought out by Philadelphia and will enter free agency come July 1st. The 35-year-old winger had a down year in 2023-24, with his 13 goals, 28 points, 175 SOG and -22 plus/minus through 70 games played.

San Jose has claimed Barclay Goodrow off waivers from the New York Rangers.

New York waived playoff stud Barclay Goodrow on Tuesday and he was claimed by the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday. The 31-year-old carries a $3.64 million cap hit for three more seasons after scoring four goals and 12 points in 80 games with the Rangers in 2023-24.

Nathan Todd cleared waivers on Wednesday and will have his contract terminated by San Jose.

Todd had a successful 2023-24 with the San Jose Barracuda (AHL), picking up 19 goals and 55 points in 69 games played but has had his contract waived and terminated as he heads to Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the KHL. The 28-year-old had never managed to make it to the NHL but had 125 points in five AHL seasons.
