Giroux was listed as a game-time decision and the Flyers said that he would take warmups, but he is not on the ice for warmups and will not play vs. the Devils. With Giroux and Scott Laughton out, the Flyers will go with seven defensemen.
Giroux who was cut near his ankle in Friday’s game, will take part in warmups and then he, along with Flyers medical and coaching staff will determined whether Giroux will be in the lineup vs. the Devils. Giroux has 15 points (6G / 9A) in 13 games over the last month.
Giroux left Saturday’s game with a leg injury and did not return. Giroux was cut near his ankle and he originally feared that he severed his Achilles tendon. "It was pretty scary," Giroux said. "I tried to get up, but it felt really weird. I tried to put pressure on it, but it didn't feel too good.” The injury obviously looked worse than it was and he is expected to be in the lineup tonight vs. the Devils.
There is no word on how all four lines will shakeout or who will come out of the lineup, but we do know that Perron will start his Penguins career on a line with Crosby. He leaves the dumpster fire in Edmonton to play with the best player in the World, not a bad deal for Perron. His fantasy value is obviously on the rise.
Perron, who was acquired from the Oilers on Friday, did not play last night vs. Tampa Bay but will play tonight vs. the Canadiens. Because of the back-to-back the Penguins did not have a morning skate, so there is no word on who Perron is going to play with tonight. You would have to think that they will ease him in and they could move him around between Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin to see where he fits best.
The Penguins have battled injuries all season long, so they have shipped a draft pick to a rebuilding team for a top-6 forward. Perron had a career high-28 goals and 57 points last season, but has just 19 points (5G / 14A) in 38 games this season. His fantasy value is certainly on the rise now that he moves from the 27th ranked offence to the sixth best.
Anderson gave up two goals on 21 shots in the Senators 5-2 win against the Sabres on Monday. The Senators had four-days off between games, so they will go back to Anderson this afternoon in Boston. Anderson has yet to face the Bruins this season, but he has struggled on the road—3-7-2 with a 2.58 GAA and .926 SV%.
Del Zotto has been a healthy scratch in the last nine games, but he will get back into the lineup tonight vs. the Avalanche. He has eight points (2G / 6A) in 24 games this season. He will be paired with Andrew MacDonald.
Anderson allowed three goals on 27 shots in the Senators 3-2 OT loss to the Red Wings. Anderson was not that busy in this one, but he made a number of highlight reel saves to keep the Senators in it. Tonight, he will get his first start of the year vs. the Sabres. He makes for a strong start at home where he is 5-2-3 with a 2.26 GAA and .930 SV%.
Anderson gave up two goals on 23 shots in the Senators loss to the Capitals on Monday. He has played well as of late, going 3-4-1 with a 2.38 GAA and .922 SV% in December. Tonight he will face a Red Wings team he is 1-1-0 with a 2.52 GAA and .933 SV% against this season.
Anderson surrendered two goals on 34 shots in the Senators win over the Ducks last Friday. He was given Saturday night off, but will be back in goal tonight vs. the Capitals. Andy has been great in his last two starts (.971 SV%) but will be in tough on the road vs. a strong offence. He is 3-6-2 with a 2.62 GAA and .927 SV% on the road.
Brassard returned to practice on Friday after missing the previous two games and he will be back in the lineup tonight vs. the Hurricanes. He has eight goals and 16 assists (24 points) in 27 games this season.
Brassard, who missed the last three games with mumps, was back at practice and centred the top-line with Rick Nash and Mats Zuccarello, which is a good sign that he will be back in the lineup on Saturday. Monitor his status during tomorrow’s morning skate.
Brassard has missed the last two games with mumps, but he will be back on the ice tomorrow. Depending on how he feels will determine whether he will play in the Rangers’ home-and-home vs. Carolina on Saturday and Sunday.
Anderson stopped all 34 shots in the Senators’ 2-0 shutout win over the Devils on Wednesday. It was Anderson’s seventh win and third shutout of the season. He had been going through a rough patch, so Wednesday’s shutout should boost his confidence. Tonight he takes on a great Ducks team at home, where he is 4-2-2 with a 2.21 GAA and .933 SV%.
Eller was cleared for contact on Wednesday and was in the morning skate, but it remains to be seen if he will return after missing the last four games with an upper-body injury. If Eller is not available, Eric Tangradi will play.
Brassard was sent home before Sunday’s game in Edmonton. The fear was that he had contracted mumps, but his test results came in this afternoon, confirming that he has mumps. There is not timetable for his return.
Eller was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice, but he skated as an extra, which suggests that he will not play tomorrow vs. the Ducks.
Anderson allowed four goals on 35 shots in the Senators loss to the Kings last Thursday. Robin Lehner got the last two starts, but it will be Anderson tonight in New Jersey. He has just one victory in his last eight starts (1-6-1) while posting a 3.27 GAA and .903 SV%. It has not been pretty for Andy, but he draws a strong matchup tonight.
