Murray (personal) will travel on the Penguins three-game road-trip.

Murray missed the Penguins back-to-back on the weekend while he was dealing with a family matter. Murray will travel to California and will likely start one of the back-to-back games on Wednesday (in Anaheim) or Thursday (in Los Angeles).

Grubauer will start Friday in Carolina.

Grubauer allowed one goal on 38 shots in the Capitals win over the Canucks on Tuesday. With Braden Holtby starting last night, Grubauer will start the tail-end of the home-and-home with the Hurricanes. Dating back to the start of December, Grubauer has gone 2-0-2 with a 1.05 GAA, .965 SV% and one shutout in his last five games.

Philipp Grubauer
Gruabuer will start Tuesday vs. the Canucks.

Grubauer stopped all 37 shots that he faced in the Capitals shutout win in New York on December 27th. It seems like an odd time to get Grubauer a start with a back-to-back later this week, but the 26-year-old has allowed just five goals on 132 shots (.962 SV%) in his last five appearances. He makes for an interesting spot-start, especially in a week where a lot of goalies are on a bye week.

The Blackhawks have reassigned John Hayden to Rockford (AHL).

Hayden played just 6:07 TOI on Friday and was a healthy scratch on Saturday, so he will get a chance to continue to work on his game in the AHL. Tomas Jurco has been recalled to take his spot on the roster.

John Hayden
Murray will start Thursday vs. the Hurricanes.

Murray stopped all 11 shots that he faced after replacing the banged up Tristan Jarry in the Penguins win in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Tonight he will make his first start of the season versus the Hurricanes, but his 14th start on home ice—he is 8-3-1 with a 2.63 GAA and .920 SV% in his first 13 games at PPG Paints Arena.

Matt Murray
Schultz (lower-body) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Schultz has been sidelined by a lower-body injury for nearly one month, but could be back tonight in Philadelphia. Schultz took part in the Penguins morning skate, so monitor his status when the Pens hit the ice for warmups. He has two goals and eight assists (10 points) in 23 games in what has been an injury plagued season for the blueliner.

Justin Schultz
Murray will start Sunday in Detroit.

Murray allowed four goals on 33 shots in the Penguins win over the Blue Jackets on Wednesday. Murray went on to miss Friday’s game in Carolina with an injury, but will be back between the pipes tonight in Detroit. Murray has gone 3-3-0 with a 2.91 GAA and .898 SV% in six December starts.

Matt Murray
Schultz (lower-body) is not expected to return to the Penguins lineup on Sunday.

Schultz has been out since December 5th with a lower-body injury but he was on the ice for the Penguins morning skate, suggesting he is close to a return. Schultz stayed on late which suggests he’ll be out yet again but could be back for next Tuesday’s clash with the Flyers.

Grubauer will start Wednesday in New York.

Grubauer gave up three goals on 27 shots in the Capitals loss in Arizona last Friday. The Capitals have another back-to-back on Wednesday/Thursday so Grubauer will likely go tonight and Braden Holtby tomorrow. Since returning from injury, Murray has won two of five starts while posting a 2.71 GAA and .903 SV%.
