The 39-year-old Ovechkin was well on his way to surpassing Wayne Gretzky's all-time goal record (894), only 27 away, a feat that could be jeopardized if he misses extended time.

Thomas (fractured ankle) will return on vs. Minnesota on Tuesday.

Only four weeks after suffering a fractured ankle, expected to keep him out of the lineup for 6-8 weeks, Thomas will return to action on Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild. At the morning skate on Monday, he was skating on the top line with Pavel Buchnevich and Jordan Kyrou. The 25-year-old Thomas had six points (1G/5A) in seven games before his injury.

Point has not played since November 3rd, missing four straight. He has practiced regularly with the team the past several days and will return to the ice on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Before his injury, Point was enjoying another productive campaign, scoring 13 points (8G / 5A) through 12 games.

Letang has returned to practice but will miss a third consecutive game due to illness. The 37-year-old veteran Letang is averaging 23:12 time-on-ice in his 19th NHL season and has six points (2G / 4A), 20 blocks, and 35 hits in 18 games.

Kampf is battling a lower-body injury and will not be eligible to return until, at earliest, November 24th against the Utah Hockey Club.
