Lindholm is expected to miss multiple weeks with a lower-body injury that he suffered on Tuesday, so moving him to IR opens up a roster spot for the Bruins to recall some forward help.
Brown suited up on the fourth line on Thursday and had two shots and a minus-1 rating in 12:42 TOI. He'll be replaced by either Tyler Johnson, who was a healthy scratch on Thursday or Georgii Merkulov/Riley Tufte, who were recalled from the AHL in a corresponding move. Brown has seven points (3G / 4A) in 12 AHL games this season.
Tufte has already appeared in two NHL games this season and has scored three goals with one assist in six AHL games. The 26-year-old winger has just two goals and one assist in 20 career NHL games with the Stars, Avalanche and Bruins.
Merkulov has enjoyed a strong start to his AHL season, tying for the team lead with 11 points (2G / 9A) in 12 games. The Bruins are looking to add some offence to their lineup, so Merkulov could make his season debut. He failed to record a point in four NHL games a season ago.
Brown will make his season debut on Thursday in place of healthy scratch Tyler Johnson. Brown had zero goals and one assist in 11 games with the Bruins last season.
Johnson will take a seat on Thursday after going pointless in his first four games with the Bruins. Patrick Brown will take his spot in the lineup.
The 32-year-old Brown has 25 points (10G / 15A) in 149 career NHL games, but has spent most of the previous two seasons in the AHL. Brown has seven points (3G / 4A) in 12 games with the Providence Bruins (AHL) this season.
The Bruins, fresh off a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, will turn to Swayman between the pipes for a third straight game. The 25-year-old Swayman is sporting a pedestrian 3.03 GAA and .896 SV% in 12 games (5-5-2). The Bruins enter the action on Thursday as +150 road underdogs against a Dallas Stars team that defeated them 5-2 three weeks ago when Swayman allowed four goals on 31 shots (.871 SV%).
Lindholm suffered a lower-body injury in the first period of Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Blue and did not return. The 30-year-old defenseman was averaging 20:51 time-on-ice and had seven points (3G / 4A) in 17 games this season. Boston recalled Jordan Oesterle from the Providence Bruins (AHL) in a corresponding move.
Oesterle has spent the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign in Providence (AHL) but could make his Boston Bruins debut after being recalled on Wednesday, possibly an indication that Hampus Lindholm (lower body) will not be ready to play. The 32-year-old Oesterle has 371 games of NHL experience, recording 86 points (19G / 67A).
Lindholm suffered the injury in the first period of Tuesday's game and was unable to join his teammates on the bench for the start of the second. We should receive an update on his status ahead of Boston's game in Dallas on Thursday.
The Bruins will turn to Swayman between the pipes for the fourth time in the last five games. Partially a byproduct of poor team play, Swayman has struggled this season, posting a 3.13 GAA and .896 SV% in 11 outings (4-5-2), a far cry from the 2.53 GAA and .916 SV% he recorded in 44 games last season (25-10-8) to help him secure an eight-year, $66 million contract extension. That said, the Bruins enter the action on Tuesday as -168 road favorites against a St. Louis Blues club coming off a disastrous 8-1 loss to the Washington Capitals.
