Still, the Bruins enter Tuesday's contest as +123 home underdogs against a Toronto Maple Leafs team that they defeated 5-3 on Saturday.

McAvoy did not play in Boston's most recent game, but he will likely return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 27-year-old McAvoy is off to a great start this season, scoring 12 points (0G / 12A) in 16 games. He has six assists during a five-game winning streak for the Bruins.

Mittelstadt did not play on Sunday, tending to an upper-body injury, and will be sidelined week-to-week. The 26-year-old Mittelstadt was off to a decent start in Boston this season, scoring nine points (4G / 5A) in 15 games. With Elias Lindholm (lower body) also out week-to-week, expect to see an uptick in playing time and prime deployment for Pavel Zacha and Marat Khusnutdinov.


Viel has been a healthy scratch for the last seven games, but he will replace John Beecher (upper-body) in the lineup on Saturday. Viel has yet to record a point in three games this season.

Steeves was recalled from Providence (AHL) on Saturday morning and he will make his Bruins debut against his former team this evening. Steeves, who spent four years in the Maple Leafs organization, has one goal and two assists (three points) in career NHL games.

Mittelstadt is dealing with an upper-body injury, so he will come out of the lineup for Saturday's game in Toronto. Alex Steeves was recalled from the AHL this morning, and he will replace Mittelstadt in the Bruins' top-6.


Lohrei has been a healthy scratch for the last five games, but will play Saturday because Charlie McAvoy is out due to a personal matter. Lohrei has one goal and five assists (six points) in 11 games this season.

McAvoy will miss Saturday's game in Toronto due to a personal matter, so Mason Lohrei will draw back into the lineup. With McAvoy sidelined, Hampus Lindholm figures to move up to PP1.

The Bruins placed Eias Lindholm on IR on Saturday, creating a roster spot for Steves, who has scored three goals with five assists (eight points) in nine AHL games this season. Steeves could be in line to make his Bruins debut on Saturday.
