


Orlov served his two-game suspension for kneeing Nikolaj Ehlers and is set to play Monday vs. the Golden Knights. Orlov will be back on the second pairing with Justin Schultz and the second power-play unit.

Smith suffered an upper-body injury on Wednesday and will not be available for Saturday's game vs. the Hurricanes. Expect a defenseman to be recalled from the taxi squad to replace Smith.






Stastny has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury and COVID-19 protocol but will replace Nikolaj Ehlers (lower-body) in the lineup on Thursday. Stastny has 16 points (8G / 8A) in 24 games this season.

Martinook will miss Friday's game vs. the Rangers and Saturday's game in New Jersey after testing positive for COVID-19. Josh Leivo skated in his spot in Thursday's practice.

Orlov will not be available for Thursday's game in Boston, leaving the Capitals without Orlov and John Carlson on the blueline. Expect Dennis Cholowski to replace him.

Dzingel will come out of the lineup on Wednesday, so look for Alex Galchenyuk to replace him on the fourth line.

Slavin missed two games while in COVID-19 protocol but will return to the lineup tonight in Boston. Slavin will be back on the top pair and second power-play unit and comes into play with 18 points (1G / 17A) in 33 games this season.




Martinook has been out since December 2nd but is expected to play this afternoon vs. the Canucks. Martinook is expected to skate on the fourth line with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Nino Niederreiter.


Kase was one of three players added to the COVID-19 protocol list and will not be available on Saturday. Mitch Marner (COVID-19 protocol) is expected to be back in the lineup to replace Kase.
