Andersen left Wednesday's game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Andersen already missed a lengthy period of time this season, missing most of November and all of December and is dealing with another injury. It's unclear how long he's expected to be sidelined, but expect Pyotr Kochetkov to come up from the AHL to share the crease with Antti Raanta if he misses time.

Andersen stopped 29 of 31 shots (.935 SV%) for his fourth-straight win as he beat the New York Islanders in his previous start. The 33-year-old has been fantastic since returning from a three-month injury four games ago, improving his season record to 9-3-0, 2.40 GAA and .910 SV%. He takes on the Dallas Stars, who is coming off a 3-2 loss to Buffalo but rank seventh in the NHL in goals per game (3.43).

Ty Smith has been reassigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).

Smith had one goal, three assists, 27 SOG, and a +3 plus/minus through nine games but was reassigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) after being a healthy scratch in each of the last two Penguin games. Smith heads back to the AHL for a second time, where he had four goals and 14 points through 26 games prior to his previous promotion.

Andersen stopped 34 of 35 shots in the Hurricanes' win over the Penguins last Saturday. Since returning to the Hurricanes' crease on January 12th, Andersen has won each of his starts while stopping 55 of 58 shots (.948 SV%). Overall, he's 7-3-0 with a .903 SV% in 10 games this season. Tonight he'll face a Wild team that is on a three-game winning streak and have won 12 of their last 17 games (12-3-2).

The Hurricanes have reassigned Pyotr Kocetkov to Chicago (AHL).

The Hurricanes were carrying three goalies since Frederik Andersen returned but have demoted Kochetkov to the AHL and will carry Andersen and Antti Raanta moving forward. Kochetkov started off great, going 10-1-4 with a .928 SV% and three shutouts in his first 15 games. However, he was 0-3-1 with a .861 SV% in his last four games. Before getting called up, Kochetkov was 2-2-1 with a .911 SV% in the AHL.
