Ben Harpur (pectoral surgery) will be out for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

Harpur played 42 games with the Rangers last season, tallying six points (1G / 5A), but spent all of the 2023-24 campaign to this point in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack, scoring three points (1G / 2A) in seven games. He is undergoing pectoral surgery and will miss the rest of the season.

Igor Shesterkin was the first goalie off the ice at the Rangers' morning skate.

Shesterkin played his first game in over two weeks on Saturday after recovering from a lower-body injury, making 30 saves (.909 SV%) in a 5-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils, and will likely start again on Monday against the Dallas Stars. The Rangers are a significantly stronger team with Shesterkin between the pipes but managed to hold down the fort while he was out of the lineup as the team has collected at least a point in 11 straight games (10-0-1). In two games against the Dallas Stars last season (2-0-0), Shesterkin was phenomenal, boasting a 2.03 GAA and .931 SV%.

Ruhwedel exited Sunday's contest midway through the third period, playing only 10:46 time-on-ice, with a lower-body injury. The California-born defenceman has one point (0G / 1A), 14 blocks, and 18 hits, averaging 12:13 through 15 games this season, playing most recently on the third defensive pair with Ryan Shea.

Shesterkin has missed the Rangers' last four games due to a lower-body injury but will be back between the pipes Saturday in New Jersey. The 27-year-old has been solid as expected prior to his injury, with his 6-2-0 record, 2.36 GAA and .913 SV%. He heads to New Jersey to take on the Devils, who snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory last game and are fourth in the NHL in goals per game (3.73).

Connor Mackey has been recalled from Hartford (AHL).

Mackey had a goal, three assists, 19 PIMs and a +11 plus/minus through nine games with Hartford (AHL) and has been recalled Friday. The 27-year-old defensemen has three years of NHL experience and has four goals, 11 points and 70 PIMs in 39 career games.

Louis Domingue has been reassigned to Hartford (AHL).

Domingue served primarily as the backup to Jonathan Quick while with the Rangers but played exceptionally in his only game-action, saving 25 of 26 shots for a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild. The Rangers do not play again until Saturday, so while this might be a paper transaction, allowing Domingue to get some playing time with Hartford (AHL), it could also be a sign that Igor Shesterkin is nearing his return.

The 21-year-old was the Rangers' 2020 fourth-round pick (103rd overall) and was 3-1-1 with a .914 SV% and 2.63 GAA in five games with Hartford prior to his promotion.

The 27-year-old had a goal, an assist, 17 PIMs and a +8 plus/minus through seven games with Hartford and returns to the NHL for his fourth NHL season.

On Saturday, Quick allowed four goals on 40 shots as the Rangers gave up a 3-0 lead en route to losing 5-4 in a shootout to the Minnesota Wild. That said, Quick has played well on a whole this season, posting a 1.42 GAA and .948 SV% in four games (2-0-1) but will be put to the test Tuesday against a Detroit Red Wings team that is averaging the sixth-most goals per game this season (3.75).
