The Devils selected Nemec with the No.2 overall pick in this summer's NHL Draft. The 18-year-old Slovakian defenseman had 26 points (1G / 25A) in 39 games with Nitra MHC (Slovak Extraliga) last season. He also represented Slovakia at the 2022 World Juniors (one assist in two games) and the 2022 Olympics (one assist in seven games).
Borgstrom was the No.23 overall pick in 2016 and was traded to Chicago in 2021. He never really carved out a large role with the Blackhawks, finishing the 2022 season with just seven points (4G / 3A) in 52 games. In Washington, he'll likely start the season with Hershey (AHL) but could be the first call-up when the Capitals are in need of a centre.
With Nicklas Backstrom recently undergoing hip surgery and expected to miss an extended period of time, the Capitals sign Strome to a one-year deal, presumably to be their No.2 centre in 2022-23. Strome excelled while playing up in the Blackhawks lineup last season but found himself near the bottom of the depth chart often as well. If he sticks on the second line with players like Anthony Mantha and T.J Oshie, Strome should be able to replicate the 22 goals and 26 assists (48 points) we saw from him a season ago.
Lankinen spent his first two NHL seasons in Chicago, where he was solid in 2021 but struggled in 2022. Last season he was 8-15-6 with a 3.50 GAA and .891 SV% in 32 games. Heading to Nashville, he'll battle with Connor Ingram for the backup role behind Juuse Saros.
Norris was an RFA and signed an eight-year deal that carries a $7.95M AAV cap-hit and a limited no-trade clause in the final four years. Norris is coming off of a breakout campaign, leading the Senators in goals (35) and third in points (55) in just 66 games. With the additions of Alex DeBrincat and Claude Giroux this offseason, Norris will have no shortage of talented wingers to play with next season.
McLaughlin spent four seasons with the Rockford IceHogs, finishing second on the team with 42 points (13G / 29A) in 55 games last season. He'll likely report to Springfield (AHL) for 2022-23.
Highmore played the last two seasons with the Canucks, posting 12 points (5G / 7A) in 46 games a season ago. Signing a two-way contract with the Blues suggests he'll start the 2022-23 season in Springfield (AHL).
Angello was a fifth-round pick in 2014 and spent the first five years of his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. Angello spent most of the 2021-22 season in the AHL, collecting 19 points (7G / 12A) in 44 games with Wikes-Barre/Scranton. Look for him to report to Springfield (AHL) to start 2022-23.
This is the first one-way contract of Walker's career. The 28-year-old set career-highs in games played (30), goals (8), assists (4) and points (12) in 2022. In 2022-23, he'll be a fringe roster player yet again for the Blues.
Perunovich was excellent in his first AHL season, posting 22 points (3G / 19A) in 17 games before being promoted to the NHL. He had six assists in 19 games before undergoing left wrist surgery in March. Perunovich may start the 2022-23 season in the AHL and have to work his way back to the NHL.
Suess was a fifth-round pick in 2014 and has appeared in just four NHL games since. Three of those games came in 2022 but he spent most of the season in the AHL, where he had 14 goals and 14 assists (28 points) in 46 games. He'll likely report to the AHL to start 2022-23.
Agozzino has bounced around the league recently, and the Sharks will be his fifth team in five years. The 31-year-old has posted great numbers at the AHL level but has never been able to stick in the NHL. He has just nine points (2G / 7A) in 47 career NHL games since 2015.
Dell returns to the Sharks, who he broke into the NHL with in 2017. IN 2022 he split his time between Buffalo (NHL) and Rochester (AHL). With the Sabres, he was 1-8-1 with a 4.03 GAA and .893 SV%.
Bibeau split his 2022 season between the AHL and ECHL, going 4-1-2 with a 2.48 GAA and .905 SV% in 10 AHL appearances with the Charlotte Checkers. He'll likely be the No.4 goalie on the Senators' depth chart.
Larsson is a former first-round pick (No.27 overall in 2015) who has 165 career NHL games under his belt, all with the Anaheim Ducks. However, he spent almost all of 2021-22 in the AHL, where he had two goals and 13 assists (15 points) in 55 games. The Senators' blueline is very thin, so Larsson could see some NHL playing time in 2022-23.
Sawchenko, who struggled in the AHL last year, got thrust into the NHL for a period of time, going 1-2-1 with a 3.35 GAA and .901 SV%. He'll be an AHL goalie for the Hurricanes but he was 4-10-0 with a 4.03 GAA and .877 SV% in that league a year ago.
White has had a last of the NHL in each of the last four seasons, totalling four assists across 38 games (all with the Devils). The 25-year-old defenseman will likely start 2022-23 in San Diego (AHL).
Strand appeared in a combined 21 NHL games with the Kings over the last two seasons, posting three assists. He spent most of the 2021-22 season with Ontario (AHL), scoring three goals and four assists (seven points) in 32 games.
Kirkland was a third-round pick in 2014 but has yet to make his NHL debut since turning pro in 2017. The 25-year-old, who had 48 points (25G / 23A) in 66 games with Stockton (AHL) last year, will likely report to San Diego (AHL) to start 2022-23.
De Leo was with the Ducks organization from 2019-to-2021 but spent last year with the Devils. He returns to Anaheim on a two-way contract, so expect him to start 2022-23 in San Diego (AHL). He had 56 points (21G / 35A) in 55 games with Utica (AHL) last season.
