He should have a key-role in the Wilds' bottom six yet again this season.

Zuccarello had 22 goals, 45 assists, 198 SOG, 26 PIMs and a -3 plus/minus through 2022-23 with Minnesota and has signed a two-year, $8.250 million contract extension ($4,125,000) with the Wild. The 36-year-old enters his fifth season with the Wild and has an impressive 186 goals and 573 points in 766 career games played. He is expected yet again to be a key cog on the Wilds' top line with Kirill Kaprizov.

Backlund had 19 goals, 37 assists, 36 PIMs, 260 SOG, and a +24 plus/minus in 82 games in 2022-23 with Calgary and has signed a two-year contract extension worth $9.0 million ($4.5 million AAV). Along with the new contract, Backlund has been announced as the Flames' 21st Captain in team history. The 34-year-old centre is entering his 16th NHL season as a Flame and has 185 goals, 492 points and a +66 plus/minus in 908 career NHL games played.

Bjarnason was Philadelphia's 2023 second-round pick (51st overall) and has signed a three-year, entry-level contract worth $2,850,000 ($950,000 AAV). The 18-year-old goaltender went 21-19-5 with a .900 SV% and a 3.08 GAA with Brandon (WHL) in 2022-23. He also represented Canada at the Under-18 World Championships this offseason where he led the squad with a 4-2-0 record, .849 SV% and 3.51 GAA.

Jenik had seven goals, 16 assists, 50 PIMs and a +3 plus/minus with the Tucson Roadrunners in 2022-23 and has signed a one-year, two-way contract extension with Arizona worth $775,000. The 23-year-old forward had appeared in 17 games for the Coyotes across the previous three seasons, picking up four goals and an assist. He was the Coyotes 2018 third-round Draft Pick (65th overall) and will be hoping to stick with the big club for a full season.

Sokolov appeared in five games for the Ottawa Senators in 2022-23 and picked up a goal and an assist with a +2 plus/minus and signed a one-year, two-way contract extension Tuesday. The 23-year-old winger also had 21 goals, 38 assists, 72 PIMs and a -15 plus/minus through 70 games with Belleville (AHL) last season. He will provide Ottawa with more lineup depth after earning 13 games of NHL experience in the last two seasons.

Addison had three goals, 26 assists, 22 PIMs, 77 SOG, and a -17 plus/minus through 62 games in 2022-23 with Minnesota and has signed a one-year, $825,000 contract extension. The 23-year-old was drafted by Pittsburgh in the second-round of the 2018 NHL Draft (53rd overall) and has played three seasons with the Wild where he has five goals, 28 assists, and a -21 plus/minus through 80 career games played. He should be a key piece of Minnesota's top power play in 2023-24.

Khaira had six goals, eight assists, 31 PIMs, 59 SOG, and a -11 plus/minus through 51 games played in 2022-23 with the Chicago Blackhawks and has signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 with Minnesota. The 19-year-old defenseman is expected to return to the London Knights for the 2023-24 season where he had seven goals, 22 points, 14 PIMs and a +23 plus/minus through 54 games played in 2022-23.

Chisholm had five goals, 38 assists, 21 PIMs, and a -13 plus/minus through 59 games with Manitoba (AHL) in 2022-23 and has signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 with Winnipeg. The 23-year-old defenseman was Winnipeg's 2018 fifth-round pick (150th overall) and has made two NHL appearances with the club, failing to pick up a point.

Tatar had 20 goals, 28 assists, 30 PIMs, 153 SOG, and a +41 plus/minus through 82 games with New Jersey in 2022-23 and has signed a one-year, $1,500,000 contract with Colorado on Tuesday. The 32-year-old will join his fifth NHL team and has 211 goals, 455 points, and 276 PIMs through 783 career games played. It is a great depth signing for the Avalanche as Tatar comes at a cheap price tag and has seven 20+ goal seasons across his 12 years of playing in the NHL.
