Sanderson (lower-body) is not on the ice for warmups and is not expected to play in Boston on Thursday.

Sanderson was a surprise scratch on Thursday, with the team not announcing his injury prior to warmups. We should expect to receive an update on his status ahead of Ottawa's game against the Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Markstrom is expected to miss an extended amount of time with a knee sprain.

Kevin Weekes noted that Markstrom's status for the Four Nations tournament could be in jeopardy, indicating that it is likely a multi-week injury at the very least. Markstrom suffered the injury in Wednesday's game against Boston and was unable to return. Jake Allen should see the majority of the starts for the Devils in Markstrom's absence.

Howden had an impressive outing in Monday's 5-4 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues, recording one goal, five shots, and one hit in 13:29 time-on-ice, but is battling an illness, making his status uncertain for Thursday's rematch. The 26-year-old Howden is averaging 15:10 time-on-ice and has 22 points (16G / 6A) in 47 games.

Sergachev will miss a third straight game due to an upper-body injury on Thursday when Utah visits the Minnesota Wild. The 26-year-old defenseman is averaging a monstrous 25:45 time-on-ice, a career-high, recording 30 points (8G / 22A), 81 blocks, and 23 hits in 44 games this season.

Dobson is out week-to-week with his lower-body injury.

Dobson exited Monday's 3-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets after 15:38 time-on-ice due to a lower-body injury. The talented 25-year-old defenseman will be sidelined week-to-week but fortunately will not require surgery to address the injury. The Islanders's offense, which ranks fifth-worst in the league with only 124 goals through 46 games, will greatly miss the services of Dobson's 24 points (6G / 18A) from the blue line.

Gostisbehere (personal) will be a game-time decision on Thursday vs. Columbus but is expected to play.

Gostisbehere was not at the Hurricanes' morning skate on Thursday, attending to personal matters, but should be ready to play in the evening against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 31-year-old Gostisbehere continues to quarterback the top powerplay unit in Carolina and has 28 points (6G / 22A) in 40 games this season. That said, his productivity has dipped significantly, with only three points (0G / 3A) in his last 12 games after being nearly a point-per-game player with 25 points (6G / 19A) in his previous 27.
