Jacob Markstrom is out week-to-week with a fractured finger, resulting in the call-up of Dustin Wolf from the Calgary Wranglers of the AHL. Wolf was unspectacular in his one game with the Flames earlier this season, allowing four goals on 34 shots (.895 SV%) in a losing effort, but will likely get a deeper look with an extended stay with the team. With the Wranglers, Wolf has been excellent, boasting a 2.50 GAA and .920 SV% in 13 games (10-3-0).
Olausson has one NHL game under his belt, last season with the Avalanche, being held without a point in the effort. The 28th overall pick of the Avalanche in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft has eight points (5G / 3A) in 20 games with the Colorado Eagles of the AHL this season.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is battling an illness, resulting in Devon Levi being recalled from the Rochester Americans of the AHL. Levi has played well since his demotion to Rochester, posting a 2.94 GAA and .921 SV% in two games (1-1-0). He will likely serve as the backup to Eric Comrie in the Sabres' Tuesday night matchup against the Detroit Red Wings.
With Charlie Lindgren (illness) fully returning to Capitals' activities Monday Hunter Shepard has been loaned by to the Hershey Bears (AHL). The 28-year-old netminder returns to Hershey (AHL) where he was impressively 9-1-0 before his call up but unimpressively had a .898 SV% and 2.66 GAA in 10 games played.
Xhekaj has not played since November 16th and has been loaned to Laval (AHL) where he will get some game-action and conditioning before presumably returning to Montreal. In 17 games this season, Xhekaj has three points (1G / 2A), 47 penalty minutes, and 41 hits.
Balinskis has spent most of the season with the Panthers but is returning from a one-game stint with the Charlotte Checkers, where he scored one point (1G / 0A). In 15 games with the Panthers, the Latvian defender has two points (1G / 1A), six penalty minutes, and a +1 plus/minus rating.
Lettieri has seen his ice-time plummet, including several healthy scratches since John Hynes has taken over as the head coach of the Minnesota Wild. Before the coaching change, Lettieri averaged 11:04 time-on-ice, nearly two and a half minutes more than the 8:48 he has averaged since. In a corresponding move, Minnesota has recalled Dakota Mermis from Iowa (AHL).
Vinni Lettieri has been reassigned to the Iowa Wild (AHL) in favour of 29-year-old journeyman Mermis. Mermis spent 13 games wild Minnesota earlier this season, scoring five points (2G / 3A) and 21 penalty minutes.
