The extension mirrors the recent extension signed by fellow American netminder Jeremy Swayman with the Boston Bruins two weeks ago. Oettinger was the Stars' 26th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and has cemented himself as their starting goalie for the last three seasons. The 26-year-old Oettinger has a 2.49 GAA, .914 SV%, and 11 shutouts in 196 career appearances (116-48-23).
