Toninato has appeared in just four NHL games this season and is yet to register a point. He returns to Manitoba where he's tallied six goals and five assists in 25 games.
With Jeremy Swayman battling an undisclosed ailment, DiPietro has been recalled from the Providence Bruins (AHL). If Swayman is unable to suit up, DiPietro will likely serve as the backup to Joonas Korpisalo. The 25-year-old DiPietro has been outstanding in the AHL this season, posting a 1.95 GAA and .930 SV% in 22 games (14-5-3) with Providence.
